A+ Essentials - Part 1
Overview
This two-part course is designed for participants who are preparing for the CompTIA A+
Essentials 2009 certification exam. The course provides foundation level skills necessary to
identify and configure PC network components, monitor and manage Windows operating systems,
diagnose hardware problems, complete preventative maintenance tasks, and install
and upgrade Windows operating systems. This course is designed for participants seeking to
become entry level IT professionals.
Objectives
After successfully completing the two-part course, participants will be able to:
- Describe various troubleshooting methods
- Utilize Windows interface tools
- Describe power supplies and connectors
- Follow procedures for working safely with electrical components
- Identify motherboards and CPUs
- Configure BIOS
- Monitor memory usage
- Examine bus settings
- Identify various types of expansion cards
- Attach a peripheral device
- Utilize data storage devices
- Connect video output and image input devices
- Install and configure a local printer
Format
Part-one is a 30-hour course delivered in a variety of formats. The course content consists of lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on activities.
