Schools and Degrees

Many of The Sage Group's courses are offered in conjunction with degree-granting schools, which allow students to earn credits toward a college degree. In addition, students may qualify for available company, union or other continuing-education funds to pay for courses.

Below are the schools through which The Sage Group courses are offered:

Nashville State Community College

Nashville State Community CollegeNashville State opened in 1970 with an enrollment of 398 students. By the Fall of 2000, that number had grown to 7,315; with an enrollment of over 14,000 students during the entire academic year. Nashville State's initial offering of five Associate's degree programs has grown to 49 degree programs and 12 certificate programs. In addition, Nashville State offers continuing education courses ranging from technical skills to management training and programs providing training in such areas as computer-aided drafting and office technology.

Nashville State is authorized to offer the Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree, as well as technical and academic certificates. The Associate of Arts (A.A.) and Associate of Science (A.S.) degrees are offered for students planning to transfer to universities.

Excelsior College

Excelsior College Excelsior College helps busy working adults earn the degrees they need with flexible distance education programs.

The college was founded in 1971 on the fundamental philosophy that what you know is more important than where or how you learned it. Excelsior recognizes that adult learners can attain college-level knowledge in many ways. Excelsior, which means "Ever Upward," depicts how, with over 100,000 graduates, we propel students just like you toward their goals.

Excelsior College is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, 3624 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104, 215-662-5606. The Commission on Higher Education is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

National Program on Noncollegiate Sponsored Instruction

National Program on Noncollegiate Sponsored Instruction The Sage Group is a member of the National Program on Noncollegiate Sponsored Instruction, or National PONSI, a not-for-profit educational advisory service that links learning experiences that take place outside of college classrooms to college degrees. How? National PONSI evaluates courses of instruction and makes the results available* to colleges to use as a guide in awarding credit for noncollegiate course work (*until 2002 in the print publication College Credit Recommendations and now in CCR Online).

As a program of the Board of Regents of The University of the State of New York, the most comprehensive educational organization in the nation, National PONSI has been highly successful in obtaining academic recognition for noncollegiate learning experiences for nearly 30 years. More than 1,500 colleges and universities currently report willingness to consider awarding credit based on National PONSI's credit recommendations. Our member organizations include some of the best-known names in corporate America, as well as labor unions, government agencies, professional and voluntary organizations, cultural institutions, and healthcare organizations.
