Web Development
Overview
This course is designed to give participants a clear understanding of how wireless
systems work and how mobility is supported. Topics include necessary mathematical
formulations for understanding wireless and mobile system applications, discussion of
how ad hoc and sensor networks are used in military and commercial applications,
Bluetooth standard, Wireless Mesh Networks, Femto Cells, Cognitive Radio, and
Heterogeneous Networks. Participants need to be familiar with the basic
structure of wired and/or wireless networks for optimal performance in the course. A
familiarity with the following items is also helpful: the layered network models (OSI,
TCP-IP), network protocols, radio frequency and wave propagation fundamentals,
wireless LAN topologies, and basic medium access (CSMA/CA).
Objectives
After completing the course, participants will be able to:
- Explain how wireless systems work
- Discuss how mobility is supported
- Explain the underlying infrastructure for wireless and mobile systems
- Discuss needed interactions among different functional components
