Conflict Management

Course Description

Conflict Management is a six-hour seminar designed to allow individuals the opportunity to successfully reach a conflict resolution that is wise, efficient and amicable, focusing simultaneously on results and relationships.

Course Objectives

Ability to appropriately manage conflict significantly affects the quality of business and personal relationships. Conflict is inevitable and has several consequences. By the end of this seminar participants will be able to:

  • Define conflict including potential benefits and negative results
  • Learn principles for seeking collaborative resolutions
  • Identify their conflict style and potential ramifications
  • Identify the modes of conflict: appropriateness, necessary skills, overuse and under use consequences
  • Examine and practice a Managing Conflict Model

Participants gain an opportunity to incorporate seminar content in several conflict simulations. The learning model is:

Awareness - through experiential learning, participants will discover knowledge that can be turned into skills to make a difference in how they make decisions

Feedback - feedback from seminar participants and the facilitator will identify priorities for improvement

Practice - through experiential learning exercises, participants will have an opportunity to apply the discovered knowledge

Planning - ten percent of Conflict Management is devoted to developing action plans
